Hurt

Her eyes stung,
She'd done it again.
He was hurting 'cause of her
And she couldn't stop his pain.

Her apologies went unacknowledged
She tried everything she knew:
She even texted him
His reply was one letter - K

She tried to console herself
Said "He needs time to heal.
Leave him alone for now.
He'll soon be okay."

For a day or a week
She'd face an impasse
Until he changed his mind
He wouldn't even talk.

She'd hurt but she'd wait
Once he healed
She knew he'd call
And her apologies would be accepted.

This had happened before
Even though she might win this battle
She knew she was going to lose the war ...
